The essence of fengshui is the containment of chi (life-force energies) within the office or home to enhance and improve on the luck of the occupants.There's really nothing religious or magical to fengshui-- just practical manipulation of alignments, the elements and decor to attain harmony with the environment.

Fengshui can be a powerful force in our lives, yet, it is not, among many things, a cure-all for all our problems. You can't use fengshui to strike first prize in a lottery if you're strapped for cash. You can't use fengshui to get rid of a cancerous tumour while refusing medical treatment. Fengshui has been acceditated with many miracles, but to say that fengshui can be used to produce magical results suggests that it is based on a series of random guesses.

What fengshui really does is to free up "dead' or stagnant chi, enhance positive energies and repel destructive energies so that a positive flow of chi is achieved. This positive flow can then be manipulated to improve on one's prosperity, marriage prospects, career luck, family cohesion, status in society, children's well-being and health. With a positive flow, too, many more opportunities arise that one will find easier to grasp. By controlling and manipulating the flow of chi, a whole host of exciting possibilties begin to present themselves. Fengshui does this by relying on a system of precise measurements and accurate calculations to achieve the desired results.

I wish to reiterate that one should not view fengshui as a magical or miracle "cure-all" remedy for all of life's problems. If you were to imagine the experience of using fengshui to change your life to that of buying a car, think of fengshui as safety features that you'd like to see in a car-- ABS systems, traction control, reinforced chasis and air-bags. These features help to make the car-ride safer and smoother-- very much the same way that fengshui allows you to attain harmony and thus a smooth "flow" in your life.
